Thinking of Selling?
Low Cost Ways to Spruce Up Your Home

First impressions are everything
so let's start with the front door:
•Is the paint on the front door faded or chipped?
If so, a fresh coat of paint is highly recommended.

•If the doorknob is rusty, replace it with a
shiny new one.  Little expense, big result!

•Put a pot of bright flowers on your front porch.
In the wintertime, display a potted evergreen.
Halloween and Thanksgiving are a great time to
decorate the front porch with haystacks and pots
of mums.  It gives the home such a warm and inviting feel!

•Buy a new doormat and hang a colorful wreath
outside
your door.  It gives a welcoming effect.

There is nothing worse than overgrown landscaping
that makes it hard to walk to the front door.  If your
greenery wants to reach out and touch you,
it's time to prune.
Pay special attention to shrubs that block windows
and prevent natural light from coming into your home.

•If you have an asphalt driveway, put on a fresh coat
of blacktop to give it that good as new look!

•Get rid of any cobwebs that may be clinging around
the corners of the house.

•Make sure all outside light fixtures are clean and in
working order. Change any light bulbs that have burned out.

•Polish or replace your house numbers and change
the mailbox if it looks a little tired.

Plants and flowers provide color and style
to highlight
your home's best features.

Making your home look like a model home
gives you a better chance of selling quickly,
and for top dollar!
OK, now that you've got them interested enough to come in, make sure your home lives up to their expectations!
•Simple things make a huge difference.  Make sure every light fixture is squeaky clean.  If your light fixtures are old
and outdated, buy new ones. Buyers will notice, trust me!

•The right lighting could enhance your homes features.
Dim lighting can make a home look dreary, and in some cases, dirty.

A soft white light is the most ideal, preferably 60-100 watt.

Replace heavy curtains with sheer ones that allow more
light to filter through.  Every buyer I ever met was turned
off by a dark and dreary home.

•Nothing stirs up warm and fuzzy emotions like a good scent.  Nothing turns off a buyer faster than a bad scent
Put out potpourri or burn spice scented candles to make your home smell delightfully good.  Steer clear of heavy scents that could offend people with sensitive noses.

•Research shows that the color green brings on feelings of
well-being. Invest in a few plants and scatter them around
your home.  You can effectively use houseplants to provide
color and style to highlight your home's best features or cover up the problem areas you don't want anyone to notice. Houseplants can be used in a variety of ways to add to your existing decorative style or create a new focal point. Plants can also be used to emphasize a decorative element in your room.

If you want top dollar for your home,
make sure it warrants top dollar!
